Update: Sandbags are available at the Whiting Center during open hours tomorrow, while supplies last.

UPDATE: The Bear Valley CSD and the Bear Valley Springs Association are making sandbags available Saturday and Sunday at the Whiting Center. Limit 5 per household while supplies last.

Dear Residents of Bear Valley Springs,

Given the forecasted heavy rainfall and potential flooding throughout Kern County, we want to ensure our community is prepared for the upcoming weather conditions. The safety and well-being of our residents are our top priorities. Therefore, we want to provide important information and resources to help you stay informed and ready for potential flooding..

Sandbag Distribution: According to Kern County Fire Department, limited supplies of filled sandbags will be available for pickup at designated locations. Please note that fire personnel will not be present to load sandbags. The primary location for sandbags relevant to our community will be:

Golden Hills, CA Golden Hills CSD 21415 Reeves St Tehachapi, CA 93561

Additional sandbag distribution points are available at the following locations:

Stallion Springs, CA KCFD Station 18 28381 Braeburn Dr Stallion Springs, CA 93561

Bring Your Own Bags: Residents are encouraged to bring their own empty bags to the following locations for sand filling:

Please be aware that KernOES will continuously monitor community needs, and additional distribution points may be added if required.

Flood Watch and Safety Precautions: A flood watch is now in effect from Saturday morning through Monday evening for various areas in Kern County, including Bear Valley Springs. Excessive rainfall may lead to flooding rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas. Please take the following precautions:

Stay Informed: Monitor weather forecasts and emergency notifications through readykern.com.
Be Prepared: If you live in flood-prone areas, be ready to take action if flooding develops.
Turn Around, Don't Drown: Avoid driving or walking through floodwaters. Even shallow water can be dangerous.
Stay Safe: If you encounter flooded roads or paths, find an alternative route and exercise caution.

Remember that your safety is our priority, and we encourage you to stay vigilant during this period of potential flooding. Our Public Safety and Public Works teams actively monitor the storm and are prepared to respond if needed.
