Bear Valley Springs community,

As we brace for the expected weather conditions, we want to provide our latest update from Chief Suttles, NOAA, and Kern County Office of Emergency Services:

Sandbag Availability:

• Location: Golden Hills (21415 Reeves Street)
• Supply: 300 filled bags left and a pile of sand to fill your own. Bring your own shovel. Available until supplies last.

Emergency Resources on Standby: The Fire Department has multiple resources ready to respond, including:

• 2 Swift water rescue teams
• Search and rescue team
• Bulldozers in the Tehachapi area

County Public Works:

• Currently working and also on standby to assist where needed.

Flood Safety Warnings:

• Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.
• Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down, and 2 feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.
• Be especially cautious at night when it's harder to recognize flood dangers.

Stay Home & Avoid Travel:

• If you must travel, avoid flooded roadways. Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.
• If at all possible, please stay home.

At this moment, we're awaiting the storm's arrival. The situation is dynamic, and we are prepared to respond accordingly.

Next Update: Chief Suttles will hold another meeting with NOAA/NWS and Kern OES at 4:00 p.m. today. If there's any new information of note, we will promptly update the community.
