Weather Advisory Update 08/20/23 6:00 P.M.

· A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for the Antelope Valley until 6:30 PM PDT.

· This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation.

· Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

· We encourage everyone who can to stay home Sunday through Monday.

· Maintenance staff is on call to handle emergencies in public right of ways, parks, catch basins and green spaces. Issues can be reported 24/7 by calling 661-267-5338 or online at www.cityofpalmdaleca.gov/report; click the Maintenance Issues button.

· Sandbags are available at local fire stations, limit 10 per citizen. Check availability near you at https://pw.lacounty.gov/dsg/sandbags/

· Sand to fill the bags is available in the empty lot on the south side of Desert Sands Park, located at 39117 3rd St. East. Bring your own shovel.

· Victory Outreach will open for those seeking shelter on Sunday, August 20 at 12 pm through Monday, August 21 at 8 pm. Pickups are available by calling 661-733-3823. Victory Outreach is located at 37419 25th St. East in Palmdale.

· Roads may be closed due to flooding:

o Avenue N between 10th St West and Sierra Highway closed at 10:15 am.

o Palmdale Blvd between 70th St East and 90th St East is being monitored.

· Do not drive around barricades or road closed signs — turn around, don’t drown!

· Do not play in or around flooded areas. There are many hazards under the water that you cannot see.

· Report emergencies by calling 9-1-1.

· Report downed power lines by calling 9-1-1, then notify Southern California Edison, 1-800-611-1911.

· City facilities that are closed Sunday, August 20: DryTown Water Park, Palmdale City Library, and all parks.

· Stay updated on the storm by registering for emergency alerts through ready.lacounty.gov and following US National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard.
