INCIDENT TYPE: Parole Violation Warrant-Sexual Assault of a Child-2 counts

DETAILS: On Sunday, August 20, 2023, at approximately 2:07pm, officers were out at the Relax Inn, 6030 I40W, to attempt to serve a felony parole violation warrant on a male who was in one of the rooms. The subject barricaded himself in the room and refused to exit. The other people in the room exited, and officers began trying to negotiate with the man to come out. After a few hours, he stopped talking to officers. Officers fired a chemical agent into the room to try to get him to come outside. Shortly after, several shots were heard from inside the room. The Critical Incident Response Team was called out and Negotiators continued to try to make contact with the man. The robot was able to get a window opened and a drone was sent in the room. The subject was found in the bathroom deceased from a self inflicted gunshot wound. The subject is identified as Timothy R. Murray, male, age 45. His next of kin has been notified. This case is assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division.
