It’s that time of year again, 2023 Citizens Academy is here!

The East Chicago Police Citizen's Academy course is designed to provide citizens with a better understanding of the operations of our department. We encourage residents to participate to better understand and appreciate what officers are faced with on a daily basis. Participation allows citizens to interact with officers and other citizens who are willing to be involved in their community. Citizens Academy meets once a week on Tuesday from 5PM-7PM at the Police Department (2301 E Columbus Drive). 

WHO CAN ATTEND? 

-          You must be a minimum of 18 years old.

-          East Chicago citizens and business owners are preferred

-          No felony convictions

-          Must be able to pass a background check

-          Commit to 80% of sessions (TUE. 5-7pm).
