Suspect Wanted in Double Fatality Crash Is In Custody.
Update: Jose Antonio Vasquez-Gonzalez surrendered himself to authorites this morning without incident.
He is now being processed into the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
On Saturday, August 19, 2023, around 11:50 p.m., 30-year-old Jose Antonio Vazquez-Gonzalez was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound on Airline Drive through the Aldine Mail Route Road intersection.
31-year-old Juan Loredo was operating a 2020 Ram 1500 traveling westbound on Aldine Mail Route Road and was turning northbound onto Airline Drive at a red light.
Witness testimony and crash damage evidence support that Jose Vazquez-Gonzalez was operating the Chevrolet over the posted speed limit.
The front of the Chevrolet struck the left side of the Ram.
Juan Loredo was ejected from the Ram during the crash.
Loredo was transported to a local hospital but did not survive his injuries.
A 28-year-old female passenger, three children, two boys ages 7 and 10, and a 2-month-old infant girl were transported to local hospitals.
The infant girl sustained life-threatening injuries and died of her injuries on Sunday, August 20.
Vazquez Gonzalez fled the scene immediately after the crash, failing to stop and render aid to the occupants of the Ram.
Vazquez-Gonzalez was later identified and charged with Fail to Stop and Render Aid – Death and Fail to Stop and Render Aid – Serious Bodily Injury .
