At 9:58 AM, the Absecon Police Department, in coordination with local law enforcement agencies, responded swiftly to a potential threat situation during an eviction process on Marin Drive. The landlord had alerted authorities about a tenant who was suspected of possessing explosives and had made threats to detonate them.

The Absecon Police Department, in collaboration with the Atlantic City Bomb Squad, Atlantic County SWAT team, Galloway Township PD, Pleasantville PD, Egg Harbor Township PD, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, swiftly mobilized to assess and neutralize the situation.

Extensive precautionary measures were taken to protect and remove nearby residents from potential harm. Residents in proximity of the apartment were displaced for approximately three hours.
Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that no harmful materials were found within the premises.

“This incident serves as a testament to the exceptional teamwork and expertise of our law enforcement agencies,” said Chief JR Laughlin. “The immediate response and coordinated efforts of our local and county partners helped ensure the safety and well-being of our community.”

The Absecon Police Department is conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the credibility of the information that was initially received.
