***UPDATE***

Union City, CA – On Monday, August 14, 2023, around 2:50 pm, Union City Police Officers responded to the 1600 block of Whipple Road regarding a collision involving a van and a motorcycle. When officers arrived, they learned there was a driver and a passenger on the motorcycle during the collision. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. The passenger of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the van remained at the scene of the collision and has cooperated with the investigation.
 
The deceased has been identified as Karen Lynn Prado (43-year-old female from Hayward). The Union City Police Department understands that this is a tragic incident for everyone involved and would like to express our condolences to the families.
