INCIDENT: MISSING PERSON
LOCATION: 15600 Block of Dakota Road, Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Thursday, August 17, 2023, at approximately 10:05 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a residence on Dakota Road reference a 69-year-old man who wandered away from home sometime during the night. The male had medical issues and required daily medications.
Deputy T. Arlotti requested the assistance of the Victor Valley Transit Division deputies. During the investigation, Deputy T. James sent the missing persons name and physical descriptors to the Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA) Operations Center, who in turn forwarded the information to all active VVTA bus drivers.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., the missing male was seen by VVTA staff on board a bus at the Victor Valley Transit Center, on D Street in Victorville. The male was contacted by Deputy James. The male was unharmed, safe, and told James he left his home for Mexico on his own will. The male was reunited with his family in Apple Valley.
Great work and collaboration between the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Department deputies, Victor Valley Transit Division deputies, and the VVTA made it possible to quickly locate the missing man and get him safely reunited with family.
