On April 13th at 7:16 a.m. police responded to a traffic crash in the 700 block of S. Lafayette Street, in which a vehicle struck a parked trailer. Upon attempting to place the driver under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence, the driver resisted. Upon receiving the toxicolgy results from the Illinois State Police crime lab, police charged the defendant, Randi S. Rokita age 33 of New Athens, with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, various counts of DUI of Drugs, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
