The Upper Macungie Township Police Department has an important message for you: *Loud Boom/Vibration Reported in Olde Towne*
Residents:
Earlier this morning, UMTPD units were dispatched to reports of a loud, ground-shaking "thud" in the area of the Olde Towne community (near the intersection of Grange Road and Ruppsville Road).
Officers responded to the area and checked the neighborhood and surrounding vicinity but did not find anything suspicious or unusual. In addition, officers also spoke with a representative from UGI, who confirmed that there were no reported issues or problems in the area. Lastly, officers contacted the United States Geological Survey, who reported no notable seismic activity in the area.
Residents who contacted police reported hearing a loud "thud" or "boom" and that in some areas, the vibration that was felt shook items off of the walls inside houses.
At this time, the source of this thud/vibration is unknown. If new information becomes available, it will be shared through Nixle (www.nixle.com) and the UMTPD Facebook page (www.facebook.com/UMTPD).
If you have information to share about this incident, please contact headquarters at 484-661-5911 or use the anonymous tip/text line at 484-504-9884.
Thank you.
