Press Release: Obstruct/resist a Police Officer with force
On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at approximately 5:00PM, Corcoran Police Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2200 Block of Whitley Avenue regarding an intoxicated subject trespassing. Upon arrival, a Corcoran Officer located Manuel Garcia Anaya on the side of the residence. Per the reporting parties’ wishes, the Officer instructed Manuel to leave the residence. Manuel refused and opened a beer in front of the Officer and began drinking in public.
Manuel was provided numerous opportunities and instructions to stop and leave. At this time, a Corcoran Officer attempted to arrest Manuel. Manuel began resisting arrest and was taken to the ground. Manuel continued to resist arrest and began assaulting Officers by scratching, punching, and kicking them.
Officers utilized less than lethal weapons to subdue Manuel and place him in handcuffs. Manuel was found to have three active Kings County warrants for his arrest totaling $60,000.00 in bail. The charges of the warrants were being drunk in public, vandalism, possession of a controlled substance, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Manuel was transported and booked at the Kings County Jail for the above-mentioned warrants as well as being in violation of 69(A) PC- Resisting arrest with force and 148(A)(1) PC- Obstruct/resist a Peace Officer. He is being held for $75,000.00 bail.
