Golf cart thefts are on the rise, and we are starting to see this trend in Lighthouse Point. Due to high demand, golf carts have become a target for thieves looking to cash in on the popularity of the vehicles. While officers and investigators throughout the state work diligently to recover stolen property and arrest perpetrators, preventing the theft from occurring is always preferred. If possible, please keep your golf carts in your garage or in a place not visible from the street. Other prevention tips include; re-keying your ignition, adding a kill switch, adding a GPS tracking device, and utilizing wheel boots.
 
Don’t forget these same prevention practices while visiting your favorite restaurants or shopping centers in your golf carts.
