Water Remains Safe to Consume for Sweetwater Authority and Otay Water District Customers

What does the “Boil Water Advisory” mean? Drinking water system tested present for E.coli bacteria. Affected residents have been asked to boil water before drinking or using to kill bacteria and other organisms in the water. The Boil Water Order will remain in effect until laboratory results confirm the absence of bacteria in the water supply.
Residents affected should use bottled water or boiled tap water for drinking, brushing teeth, and to prepare and cook food. When boiling water, bring it to a full rolling boil for at least one minute, and then allow it to cool before use. Be careful not to swallow water when bathing or showering, and to supervise young children and babies when being bathed.
