Narrative:

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – On August 24th, 2023, a DUI/ Driver’s License Checkpoint was held at Erbes Rd. south of La Granada Dr. from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am. A total of 399 drivers were contacted. 6 drivers were cited for operating a motor vehicle with driver’s license violations and 4 other drivers were cited for miscellaneous vehicle code violations. One driver, (S) Robert Shultz, was arrested for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes and areas of high traffic accident occurrences. The primary purpose of a DUI checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
