El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from August 13th to August 19th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from August 13th to August 19th.

August 13th


Vehicle Burglary – 10500 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 8:37 AM a suspect shattered the right front window of the victim’s vehicle and stole the vehicle registration card.

Robbery – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreen’s):
At 11:07 AM an officer reports the arrest of a suspect after he stole miscellaneous items from Walgreen’s and brandished a pocket knife when confronted by security.  The man also had a no cite warrant out of Sonoma County.  Booked at ECPD then to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Robbery – 100 block of Seaview Dr:
At 5:20 PM a vehicle drove alongside the victim, a suspect exited the vehicle and took the victim’s purse from their shoulder, then the vehicle and occupants fled. 

Vandalism/Battery- 9901 San Pablo Ave (Chipotle):
At 10:15 PM an officer reports an unknown suspect walked into the business after closing time and started to consume merchandise. As employees were escorting the suspect out of the business, he attempted to hit one of the employees with a closed fist. The suspect then started stabbing several windows of the business and scrapping off the business logo. An employee confronted the suspect and he started throwing items at the victim.

August 14th

Criminal Threats – 11645 San Pablo Ave (Freeway Motel):
At 2:58PM the victim reports that her friend came to her hotel room.  When asked to leave the friend threatened to kill her.   

Shoplifting – 6060 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 3:40 PM, the Barnes and Noble manager witnessed a suspect walk out of the store with a small piano.  The suspect placed the piano inside a vehicle and fled.

Shoplifting – 11511 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 3:50 PM a suspect entered T-Mobile and took a cellphone from the display.  The suspect then fled in a vehicle.

Stolen Vehicle - 2600 Block of Edwards Ave:
At 8:40 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle.

Petty Theft- 1800 Block of Liberty St:
At 1:42 AM, an officer reports unknown suspect(s) stole items from the victim’s vehicle.

August 15th

Auto Burglary - 6000 Block of Hagen Blvd.
At 8:36 am, the victim reported their vehicle was broken into overnight.  The suspect stole items from within the car.
 
Catalytic Converter theft - 700 Block of Balra Dr. 
At 12:08 pm the victim reports their catalytic converter stolen. 

Shoplifting - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 11:23 AM a suspect walked out of Luckys with merchandise they did not pay for.

Threats - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 7:52 PM, an officer reports an employee noticed a male attempting to leave the business with unpaid merchandise. The employee confronted the suspect and retrieved the property. The suspect initially walked away, but returned and made several verbal threats.

August 16th

Stolen Vehicle - 2000 Block of Mira Vista Drive:
At 8:32 AM an officer reports the victim parked their vehicle in front of their home overnight.  In the morning, the vehicle was gone.

Arrest - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 3:09 PM a suspect was arrested for a warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia.  The suspect was cited and released from the police department after booking.

Theft - 5900 Block of Central Ave:
An officer reports an unknown suspect stole several packages from the victim’s porch. The theft occurred in between 2:41 PM and 4:00 PM.

Auto Burglary - Kearney Ave. and Conlon Ave:
At 8:00 PM an officer reports unknown suspect(s) smashed out a window of the victim’s vehicle and stole property.

DUI/Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Ave / Manila Ave:
At 11:55 PM officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and conducted a DUI investigation. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence. During a records check, officers discovered the passenger had two outstanding warrants. The driver was released on a citation and the passenger was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.  

August 17th
 
Stolen Vehicle – 6800 block of Blake St.
At 8:05 AM the victim reports that their vehicle was stolen.

Robbery – 5900 block of Fern St.
At 1:00 PM the victim was walking to her vehicle when two suspects approached her, pushed her to the ground and stole her purse.  The suspects fled the area in a vehicle. 

Shoplifting – 6050 El Cerrito Plaza (Barnes and Noble)
At 12:14PM, the suspect stole items and fled in a vehicle.  

Organized Retail Theft - 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 7:24 PM, officers were dispatched to a theft that had just occurred at the business. An officer located the suspect vehicle and detained both suspects. During an infield show-up the suspects were positively identified and placed under Citizens Arrest. The suspects were booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.

Shoplift - 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 8:40 PM an officer reports an unknown suspect loaded a shopping cart full of merchandise and exited via the emergency exit without paying.

August 18th

No incidents to report.

August 19th

Armed Robbery – 9800 San Pablo Ave (Wells Fargo):
At 3:24 PM four victims were robbed at gunpoint in front of the ATM’s at the Wells Fargo bank.  The suspects took wallets, purses, cell phones and cash.  Flock camera data assisted in identifying the suspect vehicle.  The vehicle was reported stolen from Lafayette PD and had been taken in a Home Invasion Robbery. 

Organized Retail Theft - 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 6:32 PM an officer reports a suspect shattered the glass case containing bottles of liquor. The suspects loaded several duffle bags and exited the business.
