INCIDENT: PC 487(a) – Grand Theft
LOCATION: Bear Valley Road and Deep Creek Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): James Michael Scott, 41-year-old male of Baldwin Park
SUMMARY: On Monday, August 28, 2023, at approximately 8:00 am, a local business reported construction equipment stolen from a work site at Bear Valley Road and Deep Creek Road in the town of Apple Valley.
Sheriff’s Service Specialist (SSS) C. Rodriguez responded to the call and learned some time over the previous weekend an unknown subject had removed construction equipment from the work site, resulting in approximately $1,000 loss for the business. SSS Rodriguez investigated, with the assistance of Deputies R. Grissom and T. Loup, of the Apple Valley Police, Multiple Enforcement Team (MET).
The investigation led deputies to identify James Michael Scott as a potential suspect. A search warrant was secured for Scott’s residence in Baldwin Park. Apple Valley Police Department’s detective division and Baldwin Park Police Department assisted MET deputies in the service of the search warrant. During the investigation, deputies discovered where some of the stolen items were located and recovered those items.
James Michael Scott was arrested for grand theft and booked into West Valley Detention Center. Scott is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
