Mayor declares state of emergency for the City of Hardeeville.
Proclamation Declaring State of Emergency in City of Hardeeville, South Carolina due to Hurricane Idalia
WHEREAS, the Hardeeville Code of Ordinances Section 2-41 grants the City Council the power to declare a state of emergency if instances exists that threaten or endanger the lives, safety, health and welfare of the people within the city; and
WHEREAS, The Governor of South Carolina declared a State of Emergency on August 29, 2023, to enhance the state's response to Hurricane Idalia; and
WHEREAS, Hurricane Idalia presents the threat of injury to persons and property in the City of Hardeeville to such an extent that extraordinary measures may need to be taken to protect the public health; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, City Council Proclaims a State of Emergency in all areas of Hardeeville due to the dangers presented by Hurricane Idalia and further proclaims a declaration of medical emergency for the City of Hardeeville.
This State of Emergency shall last until September 4, 2023 unless rescinded earlier by City Council before that date or the Governor.
