Traffic Stop for Speeding Leads to the Discovery of Approximately 125 Pounds of Suspected Methamphetamine

SUSPECT(S): Hugo Herrera Garcia, 35-years of age, resident of Fontana
Jorge Hernandez, 32-years of age, resident of Fontana

SUMMARY: On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at approximately 2:10 a.m., Chino Hills deputies patroling the area of Peyton Drive and Beverly Glen Road observed a black Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed.
A traffic stop was conducted, and deputies contacted the driver, Hugo Herrera Garcia, and the passenger, Jorge Hernandez. Garcia was found to be driving on a suspended/revoked license. During the search of the vehicle, incident to arrest, deputies located three large bags in the back seat of the truck. The bags contained approximately 125 pounds of suspected methamphetamine. Garcia and Hernandez were arrested for possession and sales of narcotics and transportation of a controlled substance. They were booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
