Narrative:
On August 29, 2023, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Camarillo Investigations Bureau arrested a Port Hueneme resident for Grand Theft and Identity Theft.

During the month of May 2023, a victim in the city of Camarillo reported being the victim of a theft. The victim’s purse was stolen from an office building in the city of Camarillo, while the victim was at work. A deputy assigned to the Camarillo Patrol Station responded and an investigation began. The victim was alerted, by her financial institution, that her credit card and personal identifying information had been used to purchase items at the Camarillo Outlets. Those charges and credit card activity were deemed to be fraudulent.

Camarillo station detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and evidence was collected which identified Port Hueneme resident Peter Lopez Cruz as a suspect. Lopez Cruz was believed to have stolen the victim’s purse while working as a delivery driver. On 8-29-2023, Camarillo detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence located in the 2700 Block of Wendy Place and located additional evidence linking Lopez Cruz to the theft and identity theft.

Lopez Cruz was arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for violations of California Penal Codes § 487(a) – Grand Theft and 530.5(a) – Identity Theft.
