FINAL Weather Update: Hurricane Idalia
JIA crews are continuing to clear debris along the roadways and around the island today and through tomorrow. Please use caution as some roads, paths, and trails may not yet have been inspected and some roads are still missing directional signage.
The Sidney Lanier Bridge is now open to through traffic.
Georgia Power is continuing to work through remaining power outages in the area. Residents and businesses without power should follow the Georgia Power Outage Map online for their specific timeframe of restoration.
All Jekyll Island Authority offices, amenities, and facilities are open, however, some amenities and facilities are operating under reduced staffing or services, due to the impacts of the storm. Please contact the facility directly by phone for questions regarding adjusted operations.
Ameris Bank is now open.
Residents will yard debris from the storm should follow Waste Management's guidelines and regulations for yard debris pickup or contact Waste Management for these guidelines.
Residents using a tree service for any downed trees should ensure they have received a permit for removal. The permit requires the tree removal service to transport the tree fragments and debris off the island. This will not be picked up by JIA.
PREVIOUS UPDATES
Waste Management trash and recycling services will not take place on Wednesday, August 30. Services will resume on Thursday, pending no road closures, with pickup schedules operating one day behind through Saturday. Service schedules will resume as normal beginning next week.
Glynn County Schools will be closed on Wednesday, August 30, and Thursday, August 31, returning on Friday, September 1.
