On August 10, 2023, detectives with the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit arrested Walter Navarro for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and narcotics.

During the month of July 2023, detectives with the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit began an investigation into Navarro for illegal possession of a firearm. Additionally, detectives received information that Navarro was selling fentanyl to residents of the City of Camarillo and other cities located within Ventura County.

On August 8, 2023, Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit detectives obtained a signed search warrant for Navarro and his residence located on the 1200 block of Petit Avenue in the City of Ventura.

On August 10, 2023, detectives served the search warrant with the assistance of the Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit and the West County Special Enforcement Unit.

During the service of the search warrant, Navarro was taken into custody.  Detectives located an unregistered firearm, an air gun which was painted to look like a real firearm, fentanyl, and oxycodone pills.  Detectives also located evidence of narcotics sales.

Navarro was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail where he was released on bail and is awaiting trial.

The Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit is comprised of a sergeant and four detectives, whose focus is assisting patrol services with the investigation of various crimes including, but not limited to, the investigation of illegal firearms, gang related crimes, and graffiti vandalism.
