On August 31, 2023, at approximately 7:17 PM, Novato Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a residential burglary in progress in the 200 block of Marin Valley Drive. When officers arrived at the residence, they learned from the homeowner that the suspect had fled and ran towards a creek area, just north of Bolling Drive. Numerous officers from the Novato Police Department, Marin County Sheriff’s Office and a police helicopter from the California Highway Patrol began an extensive search of the area. A shelter in place alert was issued for the surrounding area while the search was underway.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult, in his thirties, wearing a light brown baseball cap, neon green shirt and brown pants. The suspect was armed with a 4–6-inch knife which he brandished at the homeowner when the burglary occurred. After searching the area, police were unable to locate the suspect and determined he was no longer in the area.
Residents in the area of Marin Valley Drive, Bolling Drive and Tinker Way are encouraged to check their surveillance cameras for any footage of the suspect. The burglary occurred at around 7:15 PM.
