The Janesville Police Department presented a Letter of Appreciation to Mercyhealth SANE Coordinator Jamie Counsell-Barker.  Jamie assists the victims of sexual assault, child abuse and human trafficking.
 
Sexual assaults, child abuse and human trafficking are some of the most personal and harmful crimes that a victim can endure. In these incidents, survivors and their family face trauma from the incident and often find themselves dealing with an unfamiliar and intimidating journey forward. Jamie and the SANE program often are one of the first steps in that journey.  Jamie has consistently provided compassionate, patient-centered and professional care. Working with survivors and their families can be rewarding but it can take a toll on the mental and physical wellbeing of SANE staff. Jamie has remained a consistent positive presence throughout her career as the SANE Coordinator.
