Novato, Calif. – On Friday September 1, 2023 the Novato Police Department held a DUI checkpoint, resulting in 2 drivers arrested for DUI and 16 drivers cited.
The DUI checkpoint was held at Novato Blvd. at Los Alondras Ct.

• 15 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license.
• 1,206 vehicles were screened.
• 1 arrested for other criminal charges.
• 1 driver was cited for knowingly allowing a suspended driver to operate a vehicle

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
