INCIDENT: Possession of a Concealed Firearm
LOCATION: Twentynine Palms Highway / Barberry Avenue, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S): Mathew James Morgan, 37-year-old Male Resident of San Bernardino
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Sunday, September 3, 2023, Morongo Basin Sheriff's deputies worked traffic enforcement in Yucca Valley. Deputies enforced speeding laws, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, unlicensed uninsured motorists and expired vehicle registration.
At approximately 1:40 p.m., deputies observed a motorcycle driving on Twentynine Palms Highway at a high rate of speed. The single occupant rider was identified as Mathew James Morgan. During the investigation, Morgan was found in possession of a loaded firearm with a high-capacity magazine. Morgan was arrested for PC 25400- Carrying a Concealed Firearm and PC 32310- High Capacity Firearm Magazine.
Morgan was booked at Morongo Basin Jail and bail was set at $30,000.
