Narrative:

On August 30, 2023, detectives with the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) arrested Raul Zamora and Katherine Munoz for mail theft and narcotics charges.

During the month of July 2023, detectives with the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit began an investigation into Zamora and Munoz for mail theft from residents of the City of Camarillo and other cities within Ventura County.

On August 30, 2023, Camarillo SEU detectives located Navarro and Munoz at a motel located on the 3000 block of Johnson Drive in the City of Ventura. Detectives obtained a signed search warrant for Zamora, his motel room, and his vehicle.

SEU detectives served the search warrant with the assistance of the Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit.  During the service of the search warrant, detectives located methamphetamine along with stolen mail from over twelve different addresses.  The mail included documents with personal identifying information and several checks.  Detectives learned Zamora altered some of the checks and attempted to cash them at a bank but was unsuccessful.

Zamora and Munoz were booked at the Ventura County Main Jail where they are being held on bail and awaiting trial.

The Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit is comprised of a sergeant and four detectives, whose focus is assisting patrol services with the investigation of various crimes including, but not limited to, the investigation of illegal firearms, gang related crimes, and graffiti vandalism.
