Narrative:
 
On August 31, 2023, detectives with the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit and Camarillo Investigations Bureau arrested a Camarillo resident for felony violations of assault with a deadly weapon and stalking.
 
In July 2023, deputies with the Camarillo Police Department responded to a call for service where the victim reported locating a tracking device under their vehicle. The victim suspected the tracking device was placed there by the suspect, Jesus Rafael Mendez Mendez.  The victim and Mendez had a former friendship and the victim suspected Mendez of following them on numerous previous occasions. Additionally, the victim reported Mendez was involved in a shooting in the area of Hueneme Road and Rice Avenue in October 2022.
 
Detectives with the Camarillo Investigations Bureau followed up on these reports. They obtained evidence that confirmed Mendez was the suspect who placed the tracker on the victim’s vehicle and committed the shooting in October 2022.
 
On August 31, 2023, detectives with the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit and the Camarillo Investigations Bureau located Mendez in the area of Camarillo and arrested Mendez for the above listed charges. Mendez was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura, CA where he is currently in custody on $150,000 bail.
