Agency Assist/Stolen Vehicle/Possession of Methamphetamine
8/30 - 11:21 a.m. - Millstadt Police responded to assist the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department after a stolen vehicle which fled from a deputy was found in a corn field at Schmidt Lane and High Prairie School Road. A search of the surrounding area resulted in the suspect not being located.
That evening, shortly before 8:00 p.m., a Millstadt Officer received a report of a suspicious person walking on East Madison Street. The caller had seen the indiviudal earlier close to the area of where the stolen vehicle was left. The Millstadt Officer located the suspect in the 400 block of East Madison. A Millstadt Officer assigned to the Metro East Auto Theft Task Force, as well as a Smithton Officer also responded to assist. The suspect was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine as well items linked to the stolen vehicle. The suspect also lied about his identity. He was taken into custody.
On Friday September 1st the defendant, Ivan F. Jones age 51 of Red Bud, was charged by the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office with the following:
Aggravated Unlawful Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle
Unlawful Possession of of Stolen Motor Vehicle
Possession of Methamphetamine < 5 grams
Obstructing Identification
Reckless Driving
His bond was set at $100,000.
He also had probation warrants out of Monroe County, Illinois.
