With help from our partners, we have continued attempts to locate, capture, and relocate the alligator, which was observed in the waters of the Ambrose Brook and Lake Creighton over the past two weeks. Observation through drones, animal control officers in the water by means of kayak and waders, video surveillance, and patrol officer monitoring have not positively identified the presence of the reptile in over seven days within the waterways in which it was previously observed. Although this likely indicates that the alligator is no longer in the area, anyone who observes the alligator should not approach or otherwise interact with it and immediately contact the Middlesex Borough Police Department by dialing 732-356-1900 or 9-1-1.
 
The Borough officials and Middlesex Borough Police Department would like to thank NJ Department of Environmental Protection, NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife Conservation Police, NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife - Wildlife Services Section, Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, Middlesex Borough Department of Public Works, Middlesex Borough Office of Emergency Management, Middlesex Borough Fire Department, Somerset Regional Animal Control, and West Pest Enterprises of Middlesex for their partnerships in attempting to relocate this non-indigenous reptile.
 
With consultation from our partners at NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife, Middlesex Borough officials have opened Victor Crowell Park with restrictions in place to mitigate any potential safety liability to our community. There continues to be No Fishing and No Swimming; the lakeside docks will remain closed; and the playground area near Greene Avenue will remain closed as a previously planned replacement and revitalization plan commence.
