A Simi Valley Police Officer assigned to traffic enforcement made a traffic stop on Candy Espinoza (47-year-old Simi Valley resident) for a violation of speeding in a school zone near Fitzgerald Road and Roldan Street. Upon attempting to issue the citation, Espinoza refused to sign the citation and drove away, stating she had to pick up her child at Hollow Hills Elementary School.  SVPD Officers tried to re-contact Espinoza at Hollow Hills Elementary School to obtain a signature on the citation, at which time, Espinoza grabbed at the original officer's shirt collar and vest, causing scratches to the officer's neck. Additional officers on scene assisted in restraining Espinoza, cuffing her and ultimately arresting her for battery on a peace officer, resisting or delaying a peace officer, and refusing to sign a citation. Espinoza was booked in Ventura County Jail.
