Potential for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and early evening 
Showers and thunderstorms are developing just south and east of the area this afternoon. The rather hot and humid conditions will be sufficient enough for storms to be strong to potentially severe with the main risks being damaging gusty winds which can lead to downed trees/powerlines, pea-penny sized hail (locally larger possible), and torrential downpours that can quickly result in brief instances of poor drainage flooding.
The main concern for strong-severe storms will be through around sunset, though spotty activity can linger thereafter bringing a lingering flooding risk in spots that previously saw downpours. Storms decrease in coverage before tapering to an isolated shower by around midnight.
