August 27
None.
August 28th
Auto Burglary/Brandishing a Weapon – 1600 block of Kearney St
At 7:31AM, when the victim confronted two suspects breaking into a parked vehicle, one suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and the other suspect brandished a handgun in his waistband at the victim. The suspects fled in a vehicle.
Strong Armed Robbery – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway)
At 11:28AM store security confronted the suspect at the door for stealing items. The suspect hit the security guard, and the security guard pepper sprayed the suspect. The suspect was arrested, treated at the hospital, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Theft by False Pretenses – 420 El Cerrito Plaza (Petco)
At 2:36PM, while assisting the victim online with a transaction, the suspect as able to withdraw money from the victim’s bank account.
August 29th
Kidnapping/False Imprisonment/Sexual Assault – San Pablo Ave at Potrero Ave.
At 6:14AM officers responded to the area for a naked female crying and asking for help. Officers contacted the victim who stated she was picked up by the suspect in Oakland. While in his vehicle, the suspect pointed a gun at the victim and sexually assaulted her. The victim was transported to the hospital.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 1100 block of Norvell Ct.
At 10:33AM an officer located a parked unoccupied stolen vehicle.
Stolen Vehicle – 1700 block of Arlington Blvd.
At 12:33PM the victim reports their vehicle was stolen while her son was driving it Southern California.
Shoplifting – 430 El Cerrito Plaza (Kids Footlocker)
At 4:24PM the suspect exited the store with unpaid merchandise and fled in a vehicle.
August 30th
Stolen Vehicle – 11000 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 7:36AM the victim reported their vehicle was stolen. Richmond Police Officers found the vehicle parked unoccupied in their city. The vehicle was released to the owner.
August 31st
Auto Burglary – 5600 block of Jordan Ave.
At 7:29AM the victims reported that the suspects broke into their vehicle and stole miscellaneous items. The suspects fled in a vehicle.
Stolen Vehicle Report – 2500 block of Nason Ave.
At 9:53AM the victim reported their vehicle was stolen sometime last night.
Warrant Arrest – 11965 San Pablo Ave.
At 10:41AM an officer arrested a suspect on a theft warrant. The suspect was booked at the police department and released on a citation.
September 1st
Grand Theft- 500 Block of Elm St:
At 11:05 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole property from the victim’s unlocked vehicle. The theft occurred in between 5:00 PM and 5:15 PM.
September 2nd
Stolen Vehicle / Evade Police – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 11:29 AM, El Cerrito Police Officers received a Flock hit on a stolen Hyundai Elantra traveling northbound on San Pablo Avenue at Potrero Avenue. Officers circulated in an attempt to locate the vehicle. A records check confirmed the vehicle was reported stolen to Oakland PD on 8/31/2023.
A sergeant located the vehicle occupied in the Safeway parking lot. A traffic stop was attempted and a brief vehicle pursuit ensued but was terminated when the vehicle entered the eastbound I-80 off ramp against traffic.
