INCIDENT: P.C. 487 - Grand Theft
LOCATION: Jack in the Box located at 73750 Twentynine Palms Highway, Twentynine Palms, CA, 92277
SUSPECT(S): William Wilson, resident of Twentynine Palms
VICTIM(S): Zuzana Bartosova, resident of Czech Republic
SUMMARY: On Friday, September 8, 2023, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Morongo Basin Station, were dispatched to the Jack in the Box restaurant, located in the City of Twentynine Palms, for a theft investigation. The victim, Zuzana Bartosova, left her backpack containing her passport, identification card, camera equipment, Go Pro, and wallet, inside the restaurant. When Zuzana returned for her backpack, she found it was missing.
Deputy Nicholas Kridner arrived at the location and conducted the investigation. Kridner was able to identify the suspect, William Wilson, as the person who stole the victim's backpack and authored a search warrant for Wilson’s residence. Morongo deputies served the warrant and located Wilson with the stolen backpack. The backpack and belongings were returned to Bartosova and Wilson was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for P.C. 487 – Grand Theft. Wilson's bail was set at $30,000.
