REMINDER: September 11th Interfaith Memorial Service is tonight at 5 pm; 15 mph school zone speed limit takes effect Sept. 12.

Attend the September 11th Interfaith Memorial Service tonight at 5 p.m.

Today, Sept. 11, at 5 p.m. the City of Hoboken will host its annual September 11th Interfaith Memorial Service on Pier A Park next to the City's 9/11 Memorial in the northwest area of the park.

The memorial is aligned in the direction of the World Trade Center site and includes a steel beam base with a glass panel for each of the fifty-six Hoboken residents lost on Sept. 11, 2001. Each panel is engraved with a name and is illuminated at night. The memorial is located within the grove of ginkgo trees which are also aligned with the World Trade Center that were planted in 2002 as a living memorial. The perimeter of the grove includes steel plates on the ground engraved with quotes from those who were there on that fateful day.

All are welcome to attend.

15 mph school zone speed limit goes into effect tomorrow

The Hoboken school zone expansion to incorporate all K-12 schools, and a lower school zone speed limit of 15 miles per hour, will take effect on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

The 15-mph speed limit will be in effect on streets surrounding schools during arrival and dismissal times, and during recess.

The expanded school zones and speed reduction has been a priority of Hoboken's Vision Zero Action plan and aims to create safer streets near schools, which have a higher percentage of vulnerable road users.
