Advisory

Flood watch in effect through midnight; Heavy rain expected

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Hudson County, including Hoboken, through midnight. Slow moving showers and thunderstorms may produce excessive rainfall leading to accumulations of 1 to 3 inches or more in a short amount of time. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible in poor draining and low-lying areas.

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) reminds residents to exercise caution as any intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas. Residents should avoid flood-prone areas. Do not drive around barricades.

Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.

The September 11th Interfaith Memorial Service is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. in Pier A Park. The service is rain or shine, unless weather conditions become unsafe for attendees.

Residents should monitor local forecasts for additional advisories, watches, and warnings. Updates will be posted on the Hoboken OEM Twitter page at @HobokenOEM. Residents are also encouraged to monitor the City’s Twitter at @CityOfHoboken and Facebook at facebook.com/hoboken, or sign up to receive email or text updates by visiting www.hobokennj.gov/alerts
