The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Flash Flood Warning for... Northwestern Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey... Rockland County in southeastern New York... Until 730 PM EDT. At 423 PM EDT,

Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen in an hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low lying areas. Some locations that could experience flash flooding include... New City, Monsey, Nanuet, Ramsey, Haverstraw, Suffern, Pomona, Spring Valley, Wyckoff, Oakland, Franklin Lakes, West Haverstraw, Airmont, Congers, Upper Saddle River, Chestnut Ridge, Hillcrest, New Square, Mount Ivy and Viola.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
