The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Monmouth County in central New Jersey... North Central Ocean County in southern New Jersey...

* Until 100 AM EDT.

* At 932 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that the heavy rains have ended. Water levels remain high and will continue to remain that way into the overnight. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Middletown, Marlboro, Manalapan, Tinton Falls, Holmdel, Red Bank, Matawan, Roosevelt, East Freehold, West Freehold, Adelphia, and Morganville. This includes the following highways... Interstate 195 in New Jersey between mile markers 11 and 22. Garden State Parkway between mile markers 107 and 119.

* AFFECTED AREAS: MONMOUTH, NJ ... OCEAN, NJ

Instructions:

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route over higher ground.
