NWS flood watch issued; Avoid low-lying, flood-prone areas

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Hudson County that will take effect at 4 a.m. due to predicted thunderstorms with potentially heavy rainfall at times.

The Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor the incoming storm and advises residents to avoid low-lying, flood-prone areas as flooding is possible if rainfall is above 0.8 inches per hour.

Barricades have been deployed near flood-prone intersections. Residents are reminded to exercise caution and to not drive through or walk through flood waters. Do not drive around or move barricades.

Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.

Residents should monitor local forecasts for additional advisories, watches, and warnings. Updates will be posted on the Hoboken OEM Twitter page at @HobokenOEM. Residents are also encouraged to monitor the City’s Twitter at @CityOfHoboken and Facebook at facebook.com/hoboken, or sign up to receive email or text updates by visiting www.hobokennj.gov/alerts
