Deputies Locate and Rescue Lost Man with the Help of a Tip from Campers

INVOLVED PARTY(S): Stan Eisman, 70-year-old male, resident of Landers, CA
SUMMARY: On Monday, September 11, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Sheriff's Dispatch received a 911 call from a male, later identified as Stan Eisman. Eisman reported being lost and stranded somewhere in the desert area of Landers. Eisman said he was driving on a dirt road and his vehicle got stuck in soft sand. Eisman was unfamiliar with the area and became worried when he could not get the car out of the sand.
Deputies working in the county area of the Morongo Basin responded and began a search. Deputies conducted an extensive search with the limited information provided. Deputies requested assistance from Sheriff's Aviation, who responded and checked the desert area for any sign of Eisman. Deputies continued the search into the late evening hours.
At approximately 9:00 p.m., an individual camping near the Johnson Valley dry lake bed reported seeing a male stranded near Giant Rock Road and Mikiska Boulevard. Deputies responded to the location and located Eisman and his stuck vehicle. Deputies transported Eisman to his residence, where he was reunited with family and friends.
