SUNNYVALE, California - On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at approximately 10:39 p.m., Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Officers responded to a report of gunshots and a vehicle collision in the area of Hawthorn and Arbutus Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. He received immediate treatment at the scene and was subsequently transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The victim is currently in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation indicate that the victim was in his vehicle when an unknown suspect in a separate vehicle approached and fired two shots, striking the victim once. The suspect then fled the scene in their vehicle. This incident remains under investigation and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective N.
