Police Arrest Man for Sexual Assault and Firearm Charges
Man arrested for numerous charges to include sexual assault, stalking, and carrying a firearm.
San Mateo, CA – On September 14, 2023, the San Mateo Police Department arrested Rodrigo Soto Palacios in San Francisco.  Soto was arrested for numerous sexual assault crimes, criminal threats, and firearm charges.  The victim, whose identity will remain confidential, reported the incident to police, prompting a swift and comprehensive investigation.
Officers first met with the victim on September 12, 2023.  The victim came to the police department to report the crimes that occurred on August 28,2023.  The victim stated she met Soto over a year ago.  Soto threatened to post nude photographs of the victim on social media if she did not comply with his demands.  The victim met with Soto in San Mateo on August 28 where Soto brandished a firearm and forced the victim to perform sexual acts.  During the incident, Soto threatened the lives of the victim and her family and demanded money from the victim.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau took over the investigation and evidence was uncovered that led to the issuance of a search warrant.  As a result, officers located and seized an un-serialized pistol in the glove box of a car Soto had been driving.  Soto was arrested in San Francisco without incident and booked into San Mateo County Jail.
This investigation was completed by a collaborated effort between patrol officers, detectives, and San Mateo County Task Force personnel.  Due to the hard work of all officers involved in this case Soto was arrested quickly and safely.
