NARRATIVE:
On September 15th 2023, the Township of Ocean Police Department welcomed Alex Mann to police headquarters. Alex is a 24-year-old autism awareness advocate, who stopped by the police department in order to continue his journey of spreading autism awareness to law enforcement.
Since 2018, Alex has traveled to 418 other police departments across five states, to not only show his support for law enforcement, but to also educate the first responder community about autism, as well as interacting with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Township of Ocean Police Department is pleased to be the 419th department visited by Alex.
During his visit, Alex enjoyed a tour of the station where he had a chance to see the various administrative offices, specialized bureaus, the booking and cell block areas, the 9-1-1 Communications Center, and a patrol vehicle along with the various pieces of equipment utilized by officers on a daily basis.
Alex also had the opportunity to interact with civilian staff and officers of various ranks and assignments at police headquarters, where he spoke about autism and how it pertains to police interactions.
Chief Sorrentino was honored by Alex’s visit and is proud of the dedication he demonstrates to his undertaking and to the law enforcement community. Please join us in wishing Alex continued success with his mission of law enforcement support and autism awareness!
