Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé seeks reports that arrest warrants have been issued for Wilbert Dorcely (first photo), 33, and for Jevon Bowman, 34, in connection with a reported robbery that occurred on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

The victim, Dorcely, reported that at approximately 7:30 p.m., he was walking in the area of Noble Street near Frelinghuysen Avenue, carrying video recording equipment, when he was approached by a Black male who grabbed his backpack and placed what he believed was a firearm to his stomach area. The victim reported that the suspect stole the backpack and fled, heading south on Frelinghuysen. The stolen items included a red Helium 8K camera, valued at $15,000.00, two camera lenses valued at $8,000.00, other recording accessories, and a Wells Fargo credit card.

As part of their investigation, robbery detectives determined that both the victim, Wilbert Dorcely, and the suspect, Jevon Bowman, conspired to stage the reported robbery. The detectives have obtained a warrant for each individual’s arrest. Dorcely is wanted for filing a false police report and Bowman is wanted for false swearing.
