100 Cited During Pedestrian Safety Operation
Redwood City, Calif. – The Redwood City Police Department in conjunction with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office issued 100 citations for violations made by drivers during a pedestrian safety operation on September 11th 2023.
100 drivers were cited for violations including, 21950(a) CVC: (Driver failed to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk), 23123.5(a) CVC: (cellular telephone violations), and 12500(a) CVC: (being an unlicensed driver).
The operation took place at the intersection of El Camino Real and Finger Avenue in Redwood City, along with El Camino Real and Millbrae Avenue in the city of Millbrae from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. 100 people were contacted during the operation.
“Safety is a shared responsibility, with drivers holding the greatest responsibility to keep other road users safe,” Chief Kristina Bell of the Redwood City Police Department said. “We hope this operation serves as a reminder to everyone to practice due care and to look out for one another.”
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
