INCIDENT: Vehicle vs Motorcycle Fatal Traffic Crash
LOCATION: Bear Valley Road / Savage Lane, Apple Valley, CA
DRIVER 1: Shelly Goforth, 32-years-old, Resident of Apple Valley
VEHICLE 1: Toyota Corolla
DRIVER 2: Trevor McGill, 23-year-old, Resident of Apple Valley (Deceased)
VEHICLE 2: Suzuki Motorcycle
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, September 14, 2023, at approximately 10:37 PM, deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle traffic crash that occurred on Bear Valley Road and Savage Lane, in the Town of Apple Valley.
Through investigation, deputies determined a white Toyota Corolla, driven by Shelly Goforth, was traveling westbound on Bear Valley Road approaching Savage Lane, and a white and blue Suzuki motorcycle, driven by Trevor McGill, was traveling eastbound on Bear Valley Road from Deep Creek Road. Goforth made a left turn onto Savage Lane in front of McGill, causing the two vehicles to collide. McGill was ejected, sustained major injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene The driver of the Toyota Corolla was uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation.
An investigator from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigative Team (M.A.I.T) arrived and is conducting an investigation. Bear Valley Road was closed between the intersections of Deep Creek Road and Mockingbird Avenue for approximately four hours while deputies processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
