The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... East Central Hancock County in southeastern Maine... Southwestern Washington County in southeastern Maine...

* Until 900 PM EDT.

* At 557 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling across the warned area. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Machias, Cherryfield, Jonesport, Steuben, Harrington, Jonesboro, Columbia Falls, Columbia, Deblois, Millbridge, Centerville, Franklin, Gouldsboro, Addison, Sullivan, Winter Harbor, Beals, Roque Bluffs, Whitneyville and Northfield. This includes the following streams and drainages... West Branch Narraguagus River, Southwest Branch Indian River, East Branch Chandler River, West Branch Pleasant River, Little River, Indian River, Crotch Camp Brook, Pleasant Bay, Chandler River, Tunk Stream, Heath Brook, Pleasant River, Bells Brook, Taylor Branch, Northwest Branch Montegail Stream, Narraguagus Bay, Frenchman Bay, Cole Creek, Morancy Stream, Atlantic Ocean, Curtis Creek, Lamsen Brook, Old Stream, New Stream, Tenney Brook, Trout Brook, East Machias River, Western Little River, Englishman Bay, Flanders Stream, Libby Brook, Beaver Brook, Dan Hill Brook, Machias River, Pecky Brook, Great Brook, Schoodic Brook and Knowles Brook.
