Marine Enforcement Deputies Investigate Minor Injury Boating Accident in Park Moabi

SUMMARY: On Saturday, September 16, 2023, at approximately 2:57 p.m., Marine Enforcement deputies responded to a report of a boating accident near camp site 12, at Park Moabi.
The vessel, a white Cheeta Stalleto, left Pirate Cove and continued north on the Colorado River. The operator was travelling approximately 60 miles per hour at the time of the accident. The operator stated his vessel hit a large wake from a wake board boat in the area. After hitting the wake, the vessel became airborn and lost control. The vessel veered to its port side and ran onto the shore at camp site 12 where it came to rest approximately 100 feet from the water.
The operator suffered a small laceration. The other two passengers did not report any injuries. All parties refused medical treatment on scene. Speed and improper lookout were deemed to be contributing factor/s of the accident.
