Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges.
On September 11, at approximately 12:53 p.m., police responded to the 600 block of West 5th Street, in reference to a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with 23-year-old Nakeem Bailey who fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, police took Bailey into custody and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.
Bailey has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $36,000 cash-only bail.
