INCIDENT: PC 245 - Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: 7100 block of Palm Avenue, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S): Leighton Turner, 42-year-old resident of Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): 35-year-old male resident of Yucca Valley
SUMMARY: On Monday, September 18, 2023, deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station investigated reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 7100 block of Palm Avenue in the Town of Yucca Valley. The 35-year-old male victim reported being "pistol whipped" (struck with a firearm) by another male, causing serious bodily injuries.
Through investigation, detectives identified Leighton Turner as the suspect and served an arrest warrant at Turner's residence. Detectives recovered several firearms at the residence. Turner was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for violation of PC 245(a)(2) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Turner is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
